In this study, we would like to review the process from Akutagawa's selfconfession with the focus of the work “Boy,” and analyze his mother's views and mother's perceptions from the perspective of being the first of “Yaskichimono.” Through the review, the short story “Boy” shows that the desire of Akutawa family, which does not know the affection of the true mother, is hidden. Especially for the motherinlaw, Fuku and Aunt Hooki had a great influence on his work and life, and I think they were the two indispensable people in his life with Akutawa. One of the reasons Akutagawa didn't want to tell his story was the existence of his biological mother, Fuku. Fuku's luminescence was a taboo not to mention to him.In addition, Akutagawa was grateful for his aunt Hooki who raised him and had a preexisting feeling for his mother, but it was his aunt Hooki who eventually hurt him the most while he loved her. Considering the ideal, Yaskichi's “Call for Mother” in “Boy” is thought to be directed at “Phantom Mother,” which unconsciously does not exist in reality.
In the end, unconsciousness is not intentional, and it is suggestive that Yaskichi's cry for his mother gives a glimpse into the process of eventually pursuing Akutawa's mother. In Akutagawa's early and midterm works, the mother's perception of Akutagawa is considered to be very significant in that the image of her mother, which had been taboo, is reflected in her understanding, pursuit, and emotion of her mother after the midterm when the short story “Boy,” is a momentary work that brings about a change in her perception of her mother.
