본 연구는 조경수목 판매시장에서 유통되고 있는 자귀나무의 묘목 상태에 따른 재배 후 활착과 생장 특성에 대하여 실증 조사·분석 하였다. 자귀나무 묘목의 상태는 묘고, 근원직경, 잔존길이, 단근면적, 뿌리 짓무름이 매우 불균질하 였다. 조경수목 유통시장에서 판매하는 자귀나무 묘목을 재배한 결과 활착률은 76.7%로 활착률이 매우 낮은 편이었다. 자귀나무 묘목이 고사하는 주요 원인은 묘고, 근원직경, 잔존길이, 단근강도, 단근면적 때문이라기 보다는 짓무름이 심한 것이 주원인으로 추정되었다. 자귀나무 묘목 재배 후 수고생장, 근원직경생장, 잔뿌리 건중량은 개체별로 매우 불균질하게 나타났다. 자귀나무 묘목 재배 후 생장은 묘목의 묘고, 근원직경, 잔존길이, 단근강도가 크고, 짓무름이 적은 것 일수록 묘목 재배 후 수고생장, 근원직경생장, 잔뿌리 건중량이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이처럼 자귀나무 묘목 재배 후 수고생장, 근원직경 생장, 잔뿌리 건중량이 개체별로 매우 불균질하게 생장한 것은 묘목의 묘고, 근원직경, 잔존길이, 단근 상태가 매우 불균질하였기 때문으로 추정되었다. 조경수목의 묘목 상태가 불량하거나 불균질하게 되면 재배 후 불균질한 생장을 하게 된다. 조경수목의 생장이 불균질하게 되면 조경수목 구입자 요구 불충족으로 매출의 손실, 경쟁우위가 낮아짐, 재배관리의 어려움, 생산성의 손실, 농장 이미지의 실추, 고객만족도 낮아짐, 제때에 규격품 판매의 곤란 등으로 조경수목 재배농가의 경제에 직․간접으로 큰 어려움을 겪게 할 수 있다. 따라서 조경수목이 제대로 생장하고 균질한 규격품으로 생산되기 위해서는 조경수목의 묘목은 충실하면서도 균질한 것이 유통되어야 함을 시사하였다.

This study was carrided out the survival rate and growth characteristics after cultivation of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings distributed in the landscaping trees market. The condition of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings was very heterogeneous in sapling height, root diameter, remaining length, root cut strength, and root rot. As a result of cultivation of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings sold in the landscaping trees market, the survival rate was very low at 76.7%. It was assumed that the main cause of die of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings was severe root rots rather than sapling height, root diameter, remaining length, root cut intensity, or root cut strength. After cultivation of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings, height growth, root diameterr growth, and feeder root dry weight of fine-roots were found to be very heterogeneous for each sapling. The growth after cultivation of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings showed that the height growth, root diameter growth, and dry weight of fine-roots of the saplings were found to be large when they had large sapling height, root diameter, remaining length, and root cut strength but with small root. As such, it was assumed that the cause of very inhomogeneous height growth, root diameter growth, and dry weight of fine-roots after cultivation of Albizia julibrissin Durazz saplings for each sapling was the heterogeneous conditions of the saplings such as sapling height, root diameter, remaining length, or root cut. If the condition of landscaping tree saplings is poor or inhomogeneous, the growth after cultivation will also be heterogeneous.
