연구 목적: 이 연구는 김명순의 작품 중 상대적으로 주목받지 못한 평론을 분석하여 김명순문학의 올바른 이해와 평가 지평을 넓히는 것을 목적으로 하였다.

연구 방법: 연구 방법으로는 당시의 시대 상황과 작가의 전기적 사실을 연계하여 평론 4편을 분석하는 방법을 채택하였다.

연구 내용: 김명순은 자신의 평론에서 일관되게 “남성과의 동등”을 주장하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 여성은 남성과 동등하게 교육받아야 하고, 여성은 남성과 동등하게 근대적 개념인 ‘연애’가 가능해야 하며, 여성은 남성과 동등한 이유로 외양이 자유로워야 함은 물론, 문예를 창작함에 있어서도 여성은 남성과 동일한 지위를 지향해야 한다고 강조한 것이다. 이로써 김명순의 주장은 ‘남녀평등’이라고 하는 하나의 주제어로 귀결된다.

결론 및 제언: 남녀평등의 문제는 신여성들이 지향한 ‘인간해방’이라고 하는 목표점으로 이어졌다. 타자화하지 않는 인간해방이야말로 진정한 인간해방이며, 신여성이 나아가야 했던 인간 존중이자 근대인의 사명이었다. 김명순은 다양한 장르에서 자신의 주장을 펼친 작가이다. 때문에 앞으로의 연구는 한정된 장르가 아니라 그동안 미처 연구되지 못한 일본어소설과 한중일 신여성문학에까지 확대해야 할 것이다.

The purpose of this thesis is to expand the horizon of correct understanding and evaluation of Myeong-soon Kim literature by analyzing the relatively unnoticed criticisms of Kim’s works. The method of analyzing the criticisms of the four works was adopted by liking the historical situation of the time with the author’s biographical facts. As a result of the analysis, it was found that she consistently insisted on “equal to men” in her criticisms. It means that women should be educated on an equal basis with men, women should be able to ‘love’, a modern concept on an equal basis with men, women should be free in appearance for the same reasons as men. Even when creating literature, women were aiming for the same status as men. The issue of gender equality led to the goal of “human liberation” that the New Women were aiming for. Human liberation without otherness is truly human liberation, and it was the respect and mission of modern people that the New Women had to advance. She is a writer who has spread her arguments in various genres. Therefore, future research should not be limited to a limited genre, but should be extended to Japanese novels that have not been studied so far and New Women’s literature in Korea, China and Japan.
