The Sino-Tibetan Language Family has a typical quantifier system, and the use of abundant quantifiers is one of the most important features that distinguish Chinese from other language types. Compared with Chinese, there are fewer verb quantifiers in Korean quantifiers. Due to the influence of SOV basic word order, there are significant differences in the basic syntactic positions of the verb measure words or phrases between Korean and Chinese.

Firstly, focusing on the eight verb measure words listed in the General Curriculum Outline for International Chinese Language Teaching, which are “次(Ci), 下(Xia), 遍(Bian), 趟(Tang), 回(Hui), 场(Chang), 顿(Dun) and 番(Fan)”, and through data statistics from the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus, a comprehensive investigation is conducted on the verb measure words error of Korean learners. It is noteworthy that in the interlanguage corpus, except for “次(Ci)” and “一下(YiXia)”, the frequency of the use of other verb measure words is quite low, and learners basically adopt the “avoidance” strategy.

This paper mainly takes the verb measure words grammar in the current Chinese language series textbooks in Korea as the research object. It analyzes whether the arrangement of verb measure words in the textbooks can help Korean learners overcome existing error and “avoidance” phenomena.

This article comprehensively analyzes the form and frequency of the verb measure words in the texts of the eight series of textbooks, the number, and the pertinence of the notes and exercises. From this, the following characteristics are summarized:

First, the forms of verb measure words in the text are typical and single. Compared with the translated textbooks, the repetition rate of verb measure words in the native textbooks is lower, and the phenomenon that the repetition distance is greater than 5 lessons is more obvious. Therefore, it is difficult to achieve the effect of concentrating and strengthening memory. Second, there are generally few examples of sentences and exercises in the after-class annotations of the two types of textbooks. There is no obvious pertinence for Korean learners to overcome errors. Third, compared with the translation-based textbooks, the repetition rate of verb measure words and the number of examples, sentences, and exercises in the local-type textbooks are slightly increased. Still, there is an obvious imbalance between the textbooks.

In summary, based on the analysis of the characteristics of Korean learners’ errors in learning verb measure words, this article examines the arrangement of verb measure words grammar in eight series of Chinese language textbooks in Korea, identifies some problem points, and provides a corresponding reference for the future compilation of local textbooks.
