(Purpose) The purpose of this study is to analyze the core demand of the people for forest administration in Korea using a text mining analysis method, and through this, to suggest the direction of future forest administration.
(Design/methodology/approach) Domestic and foreign academic papers and newspaper articles related to forest demand were used as data sources for this study. As an analysis method, the text mining analysis method, which is widely used as a big data analysis method today, was used. In addition, in terms of identifying future demand, the 'ego network' analysis method and machine learning analysis method, which separately construct and analyze only the sentences indicated by the word 'future demand' in the text, were used at the same time.
(Findings) As a result of the analysis of this study, in terms of the demand side of future forest administration, it is predicted that the promotion of the value of forests for biodiversity and climate response, commercialization of forestry, and promotion of tourism and recreation industries will become important issues.
(Research implications or Originality) This study provides a special implication in that it tried to understand the demand of the people by using topic modeling analysis in the field of forest administration, which has not been studied much.
