논문의 목적은 이재 황윤석의 초상화를 재현하기 위한 것이다. ｢이재연보(頤齋年譜)｣와 ｢이재난고(頤齋亂藁)｣ 및 그의 사환생활(仕宦生活)의 행적을 통하여 그의 성격과 인품, 다른 사람들의 이재의 외모에 대한 기록, 이재가 사주(四柱)와 관상(觀相)을 보고 기록한 내용을 살펴보았다. 또한 이재가 사주를 보았고 사주감정가(四柱鑑定家)가 이재의 사주팔자를 통하여 그의 성격과 얼굴의 특징을 말했기 때문에 사주와 관상 관련 서적을 통하여 이재의 성격과 면상(面相)을 추정해 보았다. 그 구체적인 방법은 이은(李溵)의 초상화-인품-심상(心相)-인상(印相)-면상(面相)-사주팔자(四柱八字)-후손의 사진과 초상화-생존 후손 얼굴이라는 단계를 통하여 실제에 가깝게 재현하여 복원하는 것이다. 최종적으로는 지금 발달된 디지털 기기를 사용하여 초상화를 재현할 수 있는 전문가를 찾아서 실물에 가깝게 복원하여 활용하는 것이다. 만약 본 논문의 연구처럼 이재의 초상화가 재현된다면 그의 생가(生家)와 학술대회 그리고 그와 관련된 번역서와 연구서 및 저서에 활용되어 이재 선생을 홍보하는데 유용하게 사용될 것이다.

The purpose of this thesis is to recreate the portrait of Hwanf Yun-Seok. Through "Lee Jae Yeon Bo (頤齋年譜)," "Lee Jae Nan Go (頤齋亂藁)," and his experiences in officialdom, I have investigated his personality, character, records of his appearance by others, and his own observations after studying fate (四柱) and physiognomy (觀相). Additionally, based on his fate reading and insights provided by a fate expert (사주감정가), I have attempted to infer his personality and facial traits by referencing fate and physiognomy-related literature. The specific methodology involves progressing through stages such as the portrait of Lee Eun (李溵), his character, the inner disposition (心相), the outward expression (印相), facial features (面相), fate analysis (四柱八字), photographs and portraits of descendants, and the surviving descendants' faces. The ultimate goal is to locate experts who can utilize the currently advanced digital devices to reproduce portraits. Their expertise would involve restoring the portraits as faithfully as possible and leveraging them in practical applications. If Lee Jae's portrait, similar to the research in this paper, is successfully reproduced, it could be effectively employed in promoting Teacher Lee Jae through its utilization in his place of birth, academic conferences, as well as translations, research books, related literature, and authored works.
