이 글에서는 〈이생규장전〉의 전반부를 대상으로 최랑과 이생의 성적 욕망을 살폈다. 〈이생규장전〉의 전반부가 두 사람의 단순한 사랑 이야기가 아니라 구체적으로 성적 욕망이 전면화된 것이라는 점을 입증하려 하였다. 서술자는 수양버들, 기와 조각, 그네, 제화시 등 다양한 성적 상징물을 배치하여 두 사람의 성욕을 드러내려 하였다. 이러한 상징물은 별 의미 없는 단순한 소재가 아니라 전통적으로 상징화된 것이고, 여러 문학 작품에도 등장하는 문학적 상징이다. 이러한 성적 상징물은 전반부의 끝으로 갈수록 점점 강한 정도로 드러나 있어 최랑과 이생의 성적 친밀도가 상승함을 보여주는 데 기여한다.

공간의 이동은 두 사람의 성적 친밀도가 상승하는 것을 나타내는 데 효과적으로 사용되고 있다. 이생은 담장 밖에서 담장 안으로, 담장 안에서는 소루 아래에서 북창을 통해 소루로 들어가고, 마지막에는 소루 옆 작은 방으로 간다. 이처럼 담장 밖이라는 넓은 공간에서 최랑의 거처인, 가장 좁은 공간인 소루 옆 작은 방으로 이동하는 과정은 이생이 최랑과 육체적으로 가까워지는 것을 상징하는 동시에 두 사람의 친밀도가 상승하는 것을 의미한다.

두 사람이 성적으로 결합하기까지 시점상 이생 주도인 것처럼 보이는 서사가 실은 최랑 주도로 진행되며 조화를 이루는 것은 다양한 방식에 의해 최랑의 욕망이 드러나 있기 때문이다. 즉, 서술자에 의해 설정된 다양한 성적 상징물의 배치, 서술자나 이생의 시점으로 보여진 최랑의 시와 발화, 이생의 시점으로 보여진 제화시와 사계시가 그것이다.

In this article, I investigated the sexual desires of lady Choi and mr. Lee in the first half of 〈LeeSaengGyuJangJeon〉(이생규장전). I tried to prove that the first half of 〈LeeSaengGyuJangJeon〉(이생규장전) is not a simple love story between two people, but a full-scale sexual desire in detail. The narrator tried to reveal the sexual desire of the two by arranging various sexual symbols such as a weeping willow, a piece of roof tile, a swing, and the Poem added to the picture and the Poem about the four seasons. These symbols are not simple materials without much meaning, but are traditionally symbolized and appear in many literary works. These sexual symbols are revealed to a stronger degree toward the end of the first half, contributing to the rise in sexual intimacy between lady Choi and mr. Lee.

The movement of space is effectively used to indicate the increase in sexual intimacy between two people. Mr. Lee enters the room from outside the wall into the wall, and inside the wall from under the little room through the north window, and moves from the room to the little room. The process of moving from the wide space outside the fence to the little roomu, the narrowest space where lady Choi lives, symbolizes that mr. Lee gets closer to lady Choi physically, and at the same time, it means that the intimacy between the two increases.

From the point of view, it seems to be driven by mr. Lee to sexual intercourse. However, the narrative is actually centered around lady Choi. The reason why the narrative is harmonized like this is because lady Choi's desire is revealed through various methods. That is, the arrangement of various sexual symbols set by the narrator, lady Choi's poems and utterances seen from the narrator's or mr. Lee's point of view, and the Poem added to the picture and the Poem about the four seasons seen from the point of view of mr. Lee.
