This study examines the mediating effect of mothers’ anti-bias education practices in the links between mothers’ anti-bias awareness and young children’s critical thinking disposition and prosocial behavior. The study involved 320 mothers residing in South Korea’s metropolitan areas, all of whom had four- or five-year-old children. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 and the Process macro program version 4.2, employing bootstrapping techniques to rigorously assess the hypothesized model. This study yielded several significant findings. First, mothers’ level of anti-bias education significantly differed across mothers’ education and family income levels, whereas children’s critical thinking disposition differed as a function of their mothers’ education levels. Second, mother’s anti-bias awareness and anti-bias education, and young children’s critical thinking disposition and prosocial behavior, were all positively correlated. Third, mothers’ anti-bias education practices significantly mediated the effect of their anti-bias awareness on children’s critical thinking disposition and prosocial behavior. This study serves as a compelling confirmation of the impact that mothers’ anti-bias awareness can have on young children’s critical thinking disposition and prosocial development when mediated by their anti-bias education practices. It underscores the vital role that in-home anti-bias education plays in shaping children’s cognitive and social growth. These findings’ implications extend to enhancing anti-bias education practices within home environments, in collaboration with early educational settings, to foster holistic child development. These insights offer valuable guidance for parents, educators, and policymakers, highlighting the need to prioritize anti-bias education as a cornerstone of childhood development.
