본 논문은 18세기 후반기 음악의 역사에 본격적으로 출현한 시민계급 여성 음악가를 빈 고전주의 시대, 고전주의 시대의 도시 빈을 중심으로 살펴보며, 마리안나 마르티네스를 탐구 대상으로 삼는다. 마르티네스는 메타스타시오의 가르침과 관리 아래에서 지성을 갖춘 탁월한 성악가, 피아니스트, 작곡가로 성장했다. 마르티네스의 창작이 품고 있는 역사적 의미는 당대, 다음 세기의 후대에 이르러서도 여성 작곡가들의 음악에서는 흔치 않았던 폭넓은 스펙트럼의 장르 및 다작, 거대한 성악과 기악, 큰 작품을 조직해 나갈 수 있는 다양성, 독창성, 구성력의 작법이다. 그는 공공 연주회의 무대에 ‘남성적인’ 대규모 편성의 종교음악 작품을 올렸으며, 볼로냐 아카데미아 필아르모니카의 첫 여성회원으로 임명되었다. 아울러 성악 학교를 세워 빈 애호가 협회의 콘서바토리 설립에 초석을 놓았고, 대규모 스와레를 매주 열어 빈 음악 예술 및 문화에 활기를 더했다. 마리안나 마르티네스는 음악의 거의 모든 영역에서 두루 활동하며 경이로운 성과를 거둔 여성 음악가였다.

This study examines female Bürger musicians who emerged in earnest in the history of music in the second half of the 18th century, focusing on the Viennese classical period. In particular, it choose the case of Marianna Martines as a subject of research. Martines was educated under the tutelage and care of Metastasio and developed into a highly intelligent and accomplished singer, pianist, and composer. The historical significance of Martines’ works is her ingenuity, and compositional ability to organize large vocal and instrumental works in a broad spectrum of genres, which was uncommon in the music of female composers at the time, and even later in the next century. She brought to the stage of public concerts ‘masculine’ works of sacred music in large ensembles. In addition, she was appointed the first female member of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna. She founded a vocal school and laid the foundations for the establishment of the conservatory of Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde. She also organized weekly large-scale musical salons. Marianna Martines was an unparalleled female musician, active in almost every aspect of music.
