이 연구의 목적은 예비지리교사의 지리정보기술 활용에 대한 성향을 조사하고, 지리정보기술 활용 학습활동이 예비교사의 성향에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 알아보는 것이다. 또한 설문과 인터뷰 결과를 바탕으로 지리정보기술의 교육적 활용을 확대하기 위해서는 어떠한 노력이 필요한지 논의하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사전 설문에서 예비 지리교사들은 지리정보기술과 교육적 활용에 대해 그다지 긍정적인 성향을 보이지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 한 학기에 걸친 지리정보기술을 활용한 지리학습 모형을 체험하고 난 후, 예비 지리교사들의 지리정보기술과 교육적 활용에 대한 태도는 통계적으로 유의미한 수준의 긍정적 변화를 보였다. 수업 모형의 체험은 예비교사들의 지리정보기술에 대한 불안감 해소, 수업을 통한 구체적인 교육적 활용 가능성 확인, 지리정보기술 활용 지리교육의 효과 인식에 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 예비교사와의 인터뷰 결과 다양한 지리정보기술을 활용한 교수학습모형의 보급, 임용시험과의 연계, 교원양성과정의 정비를 통해 지리교육에서 지리정보기술이 좀 더 활발히 활용될 수 있음을 시사하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate preservice geography teachers’ dispositions toward the use of geospatial technology and to identify how learning activities using geospatial technology affect preservice teachers’ dispositions. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the pre-survey revealed that preservice geography teachers were not very positive toward geospatial technology and its educational use. Second, after experiencing a semester-long geography learning module using geospatial technologies, preservice geography teachers’ attitudes toward geospatial technology and its pedagogical use showed a statistically significant positive change. The experience of the lesson module was found to have an impact on the preservice teachers’ anxiety about geospatial technology, its potential for educational use, and their recognition on the effectiveness of geography education using geospatial technology. Third, interviews with preservice teachers suggest that various efforts could be made to increase the use of geospatial technology in geography education.
