본 연구는 Q 방법론을 활용하여 장애인활동지원사를 대상으로 발달장애인 자립에 관한 인식을 유형화하고, 유형별 특성을 세부적으로 탐색하였다. 자료는 부산시의 활동지원사 30명을 대상으로 자립 가능 요인, 자립 개념, 자립 지원 환경, 자립 지원 방식, 활동지원사 역할 등 발달장애인의 자립과 관련된 30개의 진술문을 활용하여 수집되었다. 연구 결과 ‘자립지원체계 구축 강조형’, ‘자립 역량 강화 요구형’, ‘당위적 자립 지지형’, ‘발달장애인 자립 부정형’으로 총 4가지 인식유형이 도출되었다. 장애인활동지원사의 인식유형에 따른 결과를 종합적으로 논의하여 발달장애인의 자립 실현을 위한 활동지원 서비스의 방향과 사회복지적 함의를 제시하였다.
