21세기 한국 교회는 정체기를 넘어 쇠퇴기에 이르러 다양한 방법으로 회복을 추구하고 있다. 그 방안 가운데 팀 사역이 주목을 받고 있지만 여전히 한국 교회는 팀 사역에 대한 부정적 이미지가 강하게 형성되었다. 심지어 한국 사회에서 팀 사역은 불가능한 것이 현실인 것으로 여겨지기까지 하고 있다. 미래 사회는 다양한 측면에서 연대의 중요성이 드러나고 있다. 하나님께서 각 사람에게 선물로 은사를 주셨다. 구약 배경에서 모세에게 동역자로 세워주신 아론, 모세의 장인 이드로의 조언으로 세워진 십부장, 오십부장, 백부장, 그 후 칠십 인의 장로들을 세워 동역했으며, 40년 동안 함께한 여호수아와 갈렙은 구약에서 팀 사역의 모본이라고 할 수 있다.

예수께서도 열두 명의 다양한 제자들과 팀 사역을 하셨다. 예수께서는 오합지졸과 같은 12명의 제자들과 팀 사역의 본을 보여주셨다. 예수께서 부활하신 후 디베랴 바닷가로 자신을 저주하며 세 번씩 부인했던 베드로를 찾아가시어 내 어린 양을 먹이라, 내 양을 치라 하시고, 내 양을 먹이라고 하셨다. 또한 바울과 실라, 브리스길라와 아굴라, 뵈뵈, 루디아, 디모데 등은 대표적인 팀 사역이라고 할 수 있다. 그러므로 현대 목회는 다양한 은사를 가진 자들이 연대하여 팀 사역을 할 필요가 있다. 또한 지금까지 팀 사역은 목회자로 구성된 경우가 많았으나 미래 사회는 다양한 은사를 가진 평신도까지 포함해야 한다.

목회자들이 팀 사역의 필요성을 갖고 있다고 해도 분열을 두려워하여 소극적인 상황이다. 팀 사역에 대한 소극적인 편견을 극복하도록 최소 1-2년의 준비 과정이 필요하다고 여겨진다. 이 준비 기간에 사역자들이 성장과 성숙을 이루어야 한다. 사역자들의 성장과 성숙은 분열을 최소화할 수 있기 때문이다.

팀 사역의 분열을 최소화하고 효과적인 사역을 위해 사역자들의 성장과 성숙 방안으로 Erikson의 인간 발달 8단계 과정을 배경으로 하였다. Erikson의 8단계 생애주기 이론을 통한 효과적인 팀 사역을 위한 방안은 첫째, 기본적 신뢰(basic trust) 형성, 둘째, 자율성(autonomy) 경험, 셋째, 주도성(initiative) 형성, 넷째, 근면성(industry) 형성, 다섯째, 정체성(identity) 형성, 여섯째, 친밀감(intimacy) 형성, 일곱째, 생산성(generativity) 발휘, 여덟째, 자기통합(self-integrity) 형성이다.

In the 21st century, the Korean church has gone from stagnation to decline and is seeking to recover from such a setback in various ways. Team ministry is one of the ways, but the Korean church still has a negative image of team ministry. There are even those who believe that team ministry is impossible in Korean society. The importance of solidarity in the future society is manifested in various aspects. God has given each person gifts as a grace.

Even in the Old Testament, team ministry was practiced with Moses as the central figure. He was supported by Aaron, who worked alongside him, and by commanders of tens, fifties, hundreds, and seventy elders. Joshua and Caleb, who were with Moses for 40 years, also serve as models of team ministry. Similarly, in the New Testament, Jesus served as a team with twelve different disciples. Jesus exemplified team ministry with his disciples, including Peter, whom he asked to "feed my lambs," "take care of my sheep," and "feed my sheep" after his resurrection, despite Peter's earlier denials. Paul and Silas, Priscilla and Aquila, Phoebe, Lydia, and Timothy are also typical examples of team ministry.

Therefore, modern ministry needs to be a team ministry of people with different gifts. In addition, while team ministry has historically been comprised of pastors, the future of ministry must include laypeople with a variety of gifts.

Even when pastors recognize the need for team ministry, they are reluctant to do so for fear of division. It is believed that at least one to two years of preparation is needed to overcome the passive bias against team ministry. During this preparation period, ministers need to grow and mature. This is because growth and maturity will minimize division.

Erikson's Eight Stages of Human Development was used as a backdrop to discuss how to minimize division in team ministry and how to grow and mature ministers for effective ministry. Ericsson's eight-stage life cycle theory suggests that effective team ministry measures are: first, basic trust formation, second, autonomy experience, third, initiative formation, fourth, industry formation, fifth, identity formation, sixth, intimacy formation, Seventh is the exercise of generativity, eighth is the formation of self-integrity.
