이 논문은 한국 제조업의 기술적 산업구조가 지난 2006~2021년 15년간 어떻게 변화해 왔는지를 분석하고 기술집약적 제조업의 지역 분포와 특화도, 지역별 기술적 산업구조 변화의 속도를 집중적으로 규명했다. 연구 결과, 고위·중고위 기술 산업군이 제조업 성장을 주도하고 있으며, 이러한 산업들이 특정 지역에서 더욱 집중되고 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 경기, 충남·세종, 충북 지역에서 고위 및 중고위 기술 산업군의 성장이 두드러지며, 이는 해당 지역의 경쟁력과 특화도가 높음을 시사한다. 또한, 지역별 기술집약적 제조업의 특화도와 경쟁력을 분석한 결과 경기, 충남, 충북 지역은 높은 경쟁력을 보여주는 반면, 대도시 지역에서는 제조업의 이탈 현상이 관찰되었다. 이러한 결과는 제조업의 지역 분포와 발전 전략 수립에 있어 중요한 정책적 시사점을 제공한다. 이 논문은 지역별 제조업의 기술 수준별 변화와 지역적 특성에 대한 유용한 분석 결과를 제공하며 지역 산업 발전 전략과 정책 수립에 있어 유용한 기초 자료를 제공할 것으로 기대되는 한편, 지역 산업성장에 있어 기술집약적 제조업의 중요성과 지역별 산업 특화 전략의 중요성을 강조한다.

This paper examines how the technological industrial structure of the Korean manufacturing industry has evolved over the past 15 years, from 2006 to 2021, with a focus on elucidating the regional distribution, specialization, and speed of change in the tech-intensive manufacturing sector. The research reveals that high and medium-level tech industries have been driving the growth of the manufacturing sector, with a noticeable concentration in specific regions. Particularly, significant growth in high and medium-level tech industries is observed in the Gyeonggi, Chungnam/Sejong, and Chungbuk regions, indicating high competitiveness and specialization within these areas. Additionally, an analysis of the specialization and competitiveness of tech-intensive manufacturing industry by region highlights strong performance in Gyeonggi, Chungnam, and Chungbuk, while metropolitan areas experience manufacturing departure. These findings offer crucial policy implications for the formulation of manufacturing development strategies. The paper is expected to provide valuable analytical insights into changes in the technological levels and regional characteristics of the manufacturing industry, thereby serving as a useful foundation for regional industrial development strategies and policy formulation. Furthermore, it underscores the significance of high-tech manufacturing and regional industrial specialization strategies.
