The Zhanguo zonghengjia shu, one of the silk texts unearthed from Tomb Number 3 of Mawangdui, Changsha in 1973, is a controversial corpus of political and military strategies from the Warring States period. The manuscript is similar in nature to accounts in the transmitted version of the Zhanguo ce. This study presents an annotated translation of account number 12 of the manuscript, which is the core chapter for examining the nature and date of the Zhanguo zonghengjia shu. Based on this translation, the study proposes that Type One of the text, represented by account number 12, could be an actual correspondence of Su Qin. It also analyzes the correspondence of Su Qin as transmitted in the Zhanguo ce. The analysis reveals that Su Qin's correspondence underwent certain modifications and were compiled into anecdotes in the Zhanguo ce. Through this analysis, it was confirmed that lengthy discourses by individuals in these anecdotes actually contain excerpts from the correspondence of historical figures, shedding light on the bibliographical characteristics of the Zhanguo ce.
