본 논문은 関連性理論을 근간으로 ノダ의 본질을 설정하고 그 가설이 타당한지를 검증하는 것에 중점을 두고 있다.

ノダ의 본질은 ‘청자에게 명제에 대해 [화자의 스키마적 지식에 대한 해석]으로 해독해 달라는 의도적인 표식’으로 제시하고 이것이 문장에서 어떻게 발현되고 해석되어야 할지에 대해 인간의 사고처리과정에서 살펴보았다.

또한 가설의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 ‘화자의 스키마적 지식’이라는 요소를 가지고 非ノダ군(非ノダ, だろう, ね, よ, よね)과 ノダ군(ノダ, ノダろう, ノダね, ノダよ, ノダよね)을 비교하였으며 각각이 의미상 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 살펴보았다.

그 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 非ノダ와 ノダ의 가장 큰 차이점은 ‘화자의 스키마적 지식의 변화 유무’이다. 非ノダ는 화자의 스키마적 지식에 변화가 없는 것을 나타낼 때 사용하고 자신이 가진 스키마적 지식의 서술을 나타낸다. 이에 비해 ノダ는 화자의 스키마적 지식에 대한 변화와 관계없이 사용하며 기본적으로 화자의 스키마적 지식을 바탕으로 한 해석을 나타낸다. 스키마적 지식에 변화가 있는 경우는 새로운 지식의 획득을 나타내고 지식의 변화가 없는 경우는 기존에 가진 스키마적 지식에 정당성을 부여하여 표출함을 나타낸다.

둘째, 非ノダ군과 ノダ군은 명제를 인식하는 방법에 차이가 있다. 각 표현은 모달리티 표현에 의해 명제에 대한 화자의 심적태도를 표명하는 것은 동일하지만, 非ノダ군은 객관적인 사실로 인식하고 ノダ군은 화자가 가진 스키마적 지식을 관련지어 해석한 결과로 인식한다.

This thesis has its theoretical foundation in the relevance theory with its focus on present the intrinsic nature of ノダ(noda) and verifying if the hypothesis is reasonable.

The intrinsic nature of ノダ(noda) is the intentional expression to construe [interpretation on the schematic knowledge of speaker] about the proposition to listener.

The feasibility on the intrinsic nature of ノダ(noda) is an element called ‘the schematic knowledge of speaker’ and can be seen through the comparison between the [non-ノダ゙(noda) group：non-ノダ゙(noda),だろう(darou), ね(ne), よ(yo), よね(yone)] and the [ノダ゙(noda) group：ノダ゙(noda), ノダろう(nodarou), ノダね(nodane), ノダよ(nodayo), ノダよね(nodayone)]. The biggest difference between non-ノダ゙(noda) and ノダ゙(noda) is 'the presence or absence of a change in the schematic knowledge of speaker'. If there is a change in the schematic knowledge of speaker, use ノダ゙(noda) and if there is no change in the schematic knowledge of speaker, both non-ノダ゙(noda) and ノダ゙(noda) are used. In addition, it is the same that non-ノダ(noda) group and ノダ゙(noda) group represent the speaker's mental attitude toward the proposition by the connected modality expression. But, there is a difference in the way a proposition is recognized. the non-ノダ(noda) group recognizes the proposition as ‘the fact itself’, and the ノダ゙(noda) group recognizes the proposition as ‘interpretation on the schematic knowledge of speaker’.
