본 연구는 한부모가 어떠한 어려움을 경험하게 되고, 팬데믹 위기가 중첩되면서 어떤 변화를 경험했는지를 파악하고자 하였다. 그리고 변화의 경험들이 양육 과정에 어떠한 영향을 주었으며, 어려움을 어떻게 대처해 나가는지 심층 분석을 하고자 하였다. 학령기 자녀를 양육하는 한부모 14명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하여 근거이론 방법 중 Charmaz가 제시한 초기 코딩, 초점 코딩, 이론적 코딩 방법을 활용하였다. 초기 코딩에서 173개의 코드를 구성하였고 초점 코딩 단계에서 36개의 범주를 구성하였으며 이론적 코딩 단계에서는 11개의 범주를 구성하였다. 범주 간의 관계를 조직화하고 한부모의 경험 중 ‘단독 양육의 어려움 감내하기’ 과정의 이야기를 구성하였다. 연구 결과를 근간으로 한부모의 어려움 경감을 위한 임대주택 재계약 조건 완화, 인권 기반의 가족 다양성 교육, 한부모 소상공인을 위한 금융복지 지원, 양육콘텐츠 개발, 자립을 위한 자기계발 프로그램 시행 등을 제언하였다.

This study investigates the challenges encountered by single parents during the pandemic and examines the resultant changes in their parenting processes. Utilizing grounded theory methods as outlined by Charmaz, including initial coding, focused coding, and theoretical coding, the research analyzed data collected from 14 single parents with school-aged children. The initial coding phase yielded 173 distinct codes, which were subsequently refined into 36 categories during the focused coding phase. Theoretical coding then synthesized these categories into 11 principal themes. Through this structured analysis, the study constructs a narrative around the experience of managing solo parenting amid the pandemic’s crises. Based on the findings, the implications include the need for easing the conditions for renewing leases on rental housing, enhancing human rights-based family diversity education, providing financial welfare support for single-parent small business owners, and developing parenting content and self-development programs to foster independence.
