본 연구의 목적은 인구소멸 위험지역 청소년을 대상으로 운영한 문화예술교육의 성과를 분석하고 시사점을 도출하는 것이다. 이에 농어촌 인구소멸 위험지역을 중심으로 지역과 연계하여 문화예술교육을 시행한 교육부 사업 농어촌 ‘우리동네예술학교’ 사업에 대한 성과를 분석하였다. 대상 지역은 총 17개 교육지원청 지역으로 충남교육청 산하 14개 교육지원청과 음성교육지원청, 봉화교육지원청, 가평교육지원청이며, 대상자는 현장교사, 장학사이다. 본 연구에 활용된 자료는 1차적으로 현장교사 대상으로 실시한 설문자료와 2차적으로 현장교사, 장학사 대상으로 실시한 전문가 심층 인터뷰 자료이다. 분석 결과, 해당 사업에 대한 전반적인 만족도는 매우 높았음을 알 수 있었다. 다만 지역과 연계한 문화예술교육 프로그램을 운영하는데 어려움이 있었고, 본 사업의 지속적인 운영 및 정착을 위하여 홍보, 체계적인 운영 및 관리 등의 개선 방안이 도출되었다. 또한, 지역 연계 문화예술교육의 활성화를 위하여 지역교육청의 지원, 지역 활성화 방안 등이 도출되었다. 본 연구를 통해 문화예술교육이 지방소멸을 막고 인구소멸 위험지역이 더욱 활성화되기를 기대해 본다.
