본 연구는 방울양배추 추출물의 다양한 암세포 증식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 증식 저해 정도를 살펴보기 위하여 실시되었다. 실험에 사용한 세포주는 6종이며 전립샘암 세포주인 DU-145, 폐암 세포주인 A549, 유방암 세포주인 MCF-7, 자궁암 세포주인 HeLa, 담도암 세포주인 SNU-1196, 간암 세포주인 SNU-182 로 모두 인체에서 유래된 암 세포주를 사용하였다. 암세포의 증식 저해는 CCK-8 assay를 이용하여 측정하였다. 방울양배추 추출물 1ug/mL, 10ug/mL, 100ug/mL에 대한 암세포 증식 저해를 살펴본 결과 폐암세포 A549, 자궁암세포 HeLa는 방울양배추 추출물 10ug/mL, 100ug/mL에서 유의한 증식 저해를 보여주었으며, 담도암세포 SNU-1196는 방울양배추 추출물 1ug/mL, 10ug/mL, 100ug/mL에서 유의한 증식 저해를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 방울양배추 추출물이 다양한 종류의 암세포에 대해 잠재적인 항암 효과를 가질 수 있음을 시사한다.
