스포츠 가족팬덤은 단순히 스포츠를 좋아하는 활동을 넘어, 가족 구성원 간의 정서적 유대, 가치 공유, 그리고 사회적 역할 수행과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 자녀가 성장하면서 이미 형성된 프로야구 가족팬덤의 변화과정을 분석하여 가족팬덤의 사회문화적 의미를 찾는 것이다. 이를 위해 자녀의 성장에 따른 프로야구 가족팬덤의 변화를 문화기술지방법론(ethnographic)으로 수행하였다. 아울러 이 연구는 2019년에 발표한 초등저학년 자녀를 둔 가정의 가족팬덤 형성과정에 관한 연구의 후속연구라는 점을 밝힌다.

연구결과를 정리하면, ① 가족팬덤은 청소년 자녀와 중년 부모 사이의 연결고리 역할을 한다. ② 가족팬덤은 가족 구성원의 성장, 변화, 의지 등을 통해 지속되는 유기체이다. ③ 가족팬덤에서 나타나는 문화적 역전이(逆轉移) 현상을 수용하는 것은 사회문화적 역동성을 강화하는 것으로 나타났다.

본 연구는 프로야구를 비롯해 관심이 증대되고 있는 스포츠 팬덤 분야에 청소년을 포함한 가족 단위의 연구가 미흡한 국내 실정에서 가족팬덤의 변화를 심층적으로 이해할 수 있는 시도라는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다. 본 연구를 통해 국내의 환경적 특성이 반영된 가족팬덤에 대한 연구가 다양한 관점에서 지속되길 바란다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the evolution of family fandom in professional baseball in relation to children's development, in order to explore the sociocultural significance of family fandom. This research investigates the evolution of professional baseball family fandom in relation to children's development, using an ethnographic study methodology. Ajzen's Extended Theory of Planned Behavior serves as the analytical framework, focusing on key constructs such as attitude toward the behavior, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and environmental conditions. This study is a qualitative follow-up to the 2019 research on the process of family fandom formation in households with young elementary school children.

The findings can be summarized as follows: ① Family fandom serves as a link between adolescent children and middle-aged parents. ② Family fandom is an organism that continues through the development, change, and will of family members. ③ Acceptance of the cultural countertransference phenomenon that appears in family fandom strengthens sociocultural dynamics.

This study is significant in its attempt to provide an in-depth understanding of changes in family fandom, particularly within the context of domestic research, where studies on family units, including adolescents, remain limited in the growing field of sports fandom, such as professional baseball. It is hoped that this study will encourage further research on family fandom that reflects the unique environmental characteristics of the domestic context from various perspectives.
