    유체역학은 정지유체 및 운동 상태의 유체 또는 유체와 상대운동을 하고 있는 물체와의 상호작용 등을 거시적인 관점에서 연구하는 학문으로서 고전물리학의 한 분야로 발달되어 왔으며 오늘날에는 기계공학, 항공공학, 조선공학, 토목공학, 화학공학 등의 기초학문으로서
    매우 중요하게 다루어지고 있다. 따라서 지금까지 많은 양서들이 출간되어 공학도 및 관련분야 실무자들에게 많은 도움에 되어 왔으나 여전히 유체역학을 난해하게 생각하는 사람들이 많다. 저자는 이점을 고려하여 그동안의 강의 및 실무 경험을 바탕으로 이해력과 응용력,실무능력을 효과적으로 향상시키는데 역점을 두어 다음과 같이 저술하였다.
    1. 유체역학의 전반적인 내용을 11개 장으로 구분하여 각 장의 절마다 주요 내용을 최대한간결하게 요약하고 다양한 예제와 상세한 해설을 통하여 문제풀이 과정에서 기본적인 개념을 명확히 이해할 수 있도록 하였다.
    2. 기본적인 개념을 어느 정도 이해한 상태에서 기초적인 수준의 문제해결 능력 함양 및
    보다 더 명확한 이해력 증진을 위하여 각종 자격시험 및 실무내용을 중심으로 엄선된 기
    초문제를 수록하고 강의 수준의 상세한 해설을 하였다.
    3. 공학도 및 현장 실무자들에게 가장 중요한 응용력을 기르기 위하여 실용적인 수준의 응용문제를 수록하고 기술보고서 수준의 상세한 해설을 함으로써 응용력 증진은 물론 실무능력을 갖추도록 하였다.
    4. 단위는 국제표준단위(SI단위)와 미터제 중력단위(공학단위)를 병용하여 다룸으로써 단위환산 능력을 함양하도록 하였다.

    본 저서의 내용을 중심으로 기본개념 요약 ⇒ 예제문제 풀이 ⇒ 기초문제 풀이 ⇒ 응용문제풀이의 단계별 학습을 한다면 실무적인 문제해결 능력과 응용력을 갖추는데 크게 도움이 될것으로 기대한다.
