A number of study subjects about Douglas MacArthur were mainly overweighted on political issues related to the Korean War until now. Especially Americans were interested in the Truman-MacArthur Controversy, because it caused America divided into two groups which made war on one another. This overrepresented issue made it difficult for people to understand MacArthur. Highlighted political issue has almost overshadowed Soldier MacArthur. Thus, this study focuses on the process of MacArthur becoming a national hero in America to present an unbiased point of view towards him.

MacArthur emerged from the World War Ⅰ as the youngest division commander in the U.S. Army and was recognized as one of the capable military figures due to his remarkable military achievements in the European theater during the war. It was not the ending of his career. The World War Ⅱ made him a national hero even more than one of extraordinary commanders. The media in the United States kept releasing favorable news about MacArthur who was then serving as Commander in Chief in the Pacific theater. Then, politicians and the public in the United States gave unprecedented support for him.
