Abstract 98
This study aims to apply methodology of Fairclough as analysis framework, to examine the formation of discussion of subject on school physical education promotion in sociocultural context around studying student players, and to analyze the discussion shown in related text.
As the result of analyzing the text, the first state is composed with words in aspect of winning supremacy, world stage, international summit, and world conquest. These express the text metaphorically and strengthen the meaning by repetition in order to create the discussion in certain direction. In addition, by clearly emphasizing or metaphorically and ideologically expressing body of action, it implied as if 'winning supremacy' is natural and reasonable.
Thus in the second state, the opposing side showed opposing voice with a political analyst as the expert. It considers the problem as 'disease' or 'crime' with strong definite statement, and uses appropriate pronouns to bring sense of fellowship from the public. This created fear that minimum academic ability leads weakening of elite sports performance and eventually the crisis of national state in the world.
Meanwhile, supporting side gives educational intention and equality discussion to connect the opposing discussion to distrust of politicians and the government and discolor the signification. It also imprinted the securing right of learning as equal opportunity and welfare state.
Secondly, according to result of test analysis and analysis of relationship regarding to order of discourse, externally exposed discussion included hegemony theory, globalization, neo-liberalism, crack theory, and universal welfare.
In perspective that analytic technique of Fairclough is critical, although it is useful to reveal the power relation in policy and effect of ideology, there are not many studies using the framework of critical discussion analysis in sports related policies. Due to the lack of studies proposing the framework to analyze the discourse competition in legislative process, such attempt may be a good example for future studies.
Only, the limit of this thesis is the limit of the text, which is the analysis subject. Under judgment that the focus of study would be clouded if the subject and range of analysis are too wide, the analysis subject is limited to newspaper articles, editorials, and national assembly records. In future discourse study, longer and more debates shall be analyzed for examination on change process and discourse competition process of more various bodies, in long-term perspective.
The future studies shall consider the following when using critical discourse analytic technique of Fairclough. First, possibility of understanding one text analysis that has the change in society with limited range, size, and time should be considered. A text may be interpreted in various ways depending on the situation of society that the text is produced and consumed. For example, deliberation process before production of the text or information access of general public before announcement of policy cannot be learnt only with text analysis. The critical discourse analysis can explain such process only partially. In addition, it cannot analyze all perspectives of many groups related to policies. Therefore, in order to widely understand the relationship of sports policy and social changes, mixed use of other research techniques shall be aggressively sought.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
