Under present educational environment, the recognition of the necessity for the parent's participation is gradually increased. This study is to obtain basic materials for developing ideal parent's education program in child care facility and to help them make their goal by investigating their understanding and needs for operating and proceeding the program.
This study has a basis for the survey focusing on 234 mothers who place their child under child care facilities in Geoje City.
Questions consist of general characteristics of respondents and a program, type, managing method of parent's education.
To analyze gathered data, Arithmetical Mean, Standard Deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, x²-test analysis are used.
The conclusion is like followings.
First, preferred contents in parent's education program are problem behavior, development of morality, creativity, emotion, language, recognition, sociality and guidance of life in order. Mothers concerned have a interest especially in the area of problem behavior and development of morality. The analysis of parent's educational level shows that parents are preferring passive way in participating education program such as home correspondence, parents counselling, home visit and survey.
Second, in the analysis of the needs of parent's education program, the needs have significant differences according to parent's occupation and the location of child care facility.
Third, in the analysis of the needs of parent's education type, the needs have meaning variance depending on mother's age, establishing purpose of child care facility and the location of the facility.
Fourth, in the analysis of managing parent's education in the child care facility, parents have a tendency to solve problems related to nurture with information of books and media, advice from the manager and teacher of the facility.
Main reason requiring parent's education in child care facility is for teaching child in the right way and raising parent's education level. Parents prefer an expert instructor as educator and ideal time for them is from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Required time per one time education is 2hours on Saturday and local public place is preferred to child care facility.
Finally when each child care facility has distinct parent's education program reflecting its own philosophy and characteristic, the effect should be maximized.
