The Problem of stress concentration mainly occurs near holes and notches in the plate having a hole or notches. By this stress concentration , the failure of plate is able to caused. In order to analyze this problem in tensile plate with hole many theoretical and experimental study has been attendance.
In this paper among the analysis methods to investigate the stress concentration G.Kirsch's theory of elasticity and equation suggest by Kolosoff and C.E.Inglis were introduced.
The stress distribution and stress concentration factor obtained by the theoretical method were compared with the results obtained by experimental study and numerical analysis using the finite element method.
The results obtained by the methods above can be summerized as follow.
1. In case average tensile stress of plate without hole is 57.87MPa, The stress concentration factor of specimens with circular hole are obtained as 2.76, 2.85, 2.94, 4.25 respectively. For the plate with small size this factor is nearly similar to 3.0, but in case of plate with large holl the acquired results from experimental and numerical analysis 24.6%, 27.6% larger than the results obtained by theoretical method.
2. For the specimens with elliptical hole, small variety longitudinal stress is estimated of under the condition of the same radii of y-axis and 2, 3 times increment of radii of x-axis, Rather the slope of stress distribution curve was to be lax than the stress distribution of plate with circular hole. Among the specimens with elliptical hole, in case of EH-3, EH-4 a/b ratios is 2, 3 the stress distribution of plate near hole was similar to that of plate with circular hole.
