This research mainly aims to analyze the difficulties felt by ex-servicemen when changing their job(seeking anew employment) after finishing mid-or long-term military services.
The methodologies include documentary and survey investigations, and questionnaires are prepared for the surveys. Questionnaires were distributed to 200 ex-servicemen, from whom 151 responses were collected. The respondents were those to be discharged from military services after completing mid- or long-term services and being trained for re-employment at Korea Education and Research Institute for Patriots and Ex-servicemen.
The following are the findings of the research.
First, near future plans of the ex-servicemen include seeking a re-employment (57%),taking a temporary rest (15.9%),and starting an independent and professional self-employment(10.6%).
Second, hopeful re-employments related to military careers include guard and security duties, logistics management, and commanders of reserve troops.
Third, their future career plans also include making plans after taking a six months or so rest, searching for re-employment, and starting a new business, in their proper order.
Fourth, the ex-servicemen fear the most their lack in appropriate expertise and possible damage from deception; and they feel the greatest difficulties about their old age and scholastic inabilities when seeking jobs.
Fifth, they put the greatest importance on their wages and aptitude when trying to find a job or begin their own business.
Sixth, they conceive that the government needs to support them in their re-employment and with the operation of a ex-servicemen supporting center.
