In order to investigate stability of selected fill dams which could install the tainter gate on the spill way to improve the ability for resisting the flood problem. Pore pressure, normal and shear stress and yield factor were analyzed after seepage analysis in a coupled analysis, and slope stability analysis is also carried out by using finite element method. The analyses were carried out under the basis of plane strain condition and the permeable and the impermeable zone were also distinguished in the embankment dams. Yielding process was observed by using elasto-plastic model based on Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion, and slope stability analysis was observed by considering only circular slip of Bishop.
As the results, it is expected that stability of the existing embankment dams were not affected by the installation of the tainter gate on the spill way.
