Domestically so far construction companies have used the method of building concrete retaining walls on the artificial slope to make the slope stable and thus to prevent the collapse of the slope. As the concrete retaining wall is constructed by casting concrete at site, it is difficult to maintain the uniformity of the quality and especially in winter season there are many constraints in construction work. And also as the whole surface of the wall is not environmentally friendly, it is not considered to be suitable for the environment of downtown. In case there is a partial damage in the retaining wall and the damaged part was repaired, there is a possibility of future damage from the discrete area which creates not only safety problem but also psychological problem.
Recently a method called environmentally friendly Mechanically Stabilized Earth Method was developed and the method enables to reconstruct only for the damaged part like the mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall and patterns and colors can be inserted on the whole surface wall while planting is also possible. In this research, Slope Protection Method which uses Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining Wall Method, Slope Vegetation-Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining Wall Method and Vegetation Canine Teeth Block Method will be applied to the grounds for cutting and banking in order to analyze the feasibility of construction, economy and environmentally friendly-ness of the respective methods. And also the problems and improvement plan for respective Slope Protection Methods have been derived and made the following recommendation to enhance the site applicability and utilization of the environmentally friendly Slope Protection Method in the future:
Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining Wall Method can promote the aesthetic effect by adding Whole Surface Blocks and colors and also enhanced the feasibility of construction at soft ground through lightening the back filler.
Slope Vegetation-Mechanically Stabilized Earth Retaining Wall Method can secure the hardening of the ground by using Soil Block for the insufficiently hardened surface of the slope and can enhance the feasibility of construction at the soft ground through lightening the back filler.
Vegetation Canine Teeth Block Method can promote aesthetic effect by reinforcing the shapes and colors of whole surface blocks and also can increase the structural stability at the time of high banking works through up and down fastening of bolts. As the Vegetation Canine Teeth Block Method constructs the wall by building heavy blocks like Rubble-Work, construction can be done easily through the replacement of existing slope using Gabion Retaining Wall, Stone Wall, Float Stone or L-type Retaining Wall Side Ditch.
