Recently, most management innovation tools have broken their boundaries. Lean 6 Sigma is one of them which combines strong points of Lean and 6 Sigma. The powerful effect of the tool has been proven by the successful cases of Lockeed Martin and Boeing aircraft company.
There are some case studies of Lean 6 Sigma practiced in foreign countries, on productivity and quality innovation, but it is difficult to find application and assessment on Korean aircraft industry.
For that reason, the purpose of this study is to verify that the tool fit to improve the productivity and quality on the aircraft industry process, and then to offer application method according to precedent.
This study begins from the investigation of Lean 6 Sigma theory. The first chapter, 6 Sigma and Lean 6 Sigma consist of outline, requisite and application. But the second section, Lean principle, is had the constitution added the method of drawing a Value Stream Map which all Lean improvement projects are based on.
The value stream of the aircraft industry flows through designing, development, assembling, selling, operation and depot. Chapter III consists of a case study of 82nd Aircraft Maintenance Depot located at the end stream of the aircraft industry. In the last chapter, fourth, it finishes this study with summary, conclusion and proposal.
