This study want to organise worldview of "Il-Ga" Kim Yong Gi.
As research method, we have analyzed about 10 books written by him as well as research articles investigating him as literature review.
This work can be summarized as follows.
(1) In order to take into account his worldview, his lifetime has been divided into three seasons (i.e., growth, practice, and maturity), so that we want to investigate background of formation of his world view by classifying them into a family, schooling, religion, acquaintances and his associates.
Since he was born in 1909, he has experienced political, economical and social chaos such as war and poverty, during important turning points of Korean peninsula in history (e.g., Japanese colonial period, liberations, and division of Korea, Korean war).
Also, he has learned the Christian faith from his parents, Chinese classics from Suh-Dang (which is a village school house for young children), national consciousness from Kwang-Dong middle school.
He has faced on a variety of thoughts by interacting with many acquaintances.
(2) His worldview has been investigated as classified into creation-depravity-redemption as well as various areas, i.e., God, humanity, religion, and faith, a science, a state and cosmopolitanism, Labor, and Vocation.
Thus, he seems to have reformed christian worldview. The Bible is literally interpreted and applied to his life.
(3) He called his world view as "blessed people-ism".
This thought
i) was begun with rural people's anti-Japanese struggle movement against Japanese cruel policies in 1930's.
ii) conducted reclaimating wild land and formation churches, and life revolution movement in order to overcome poverty and build justified society in this country, as following the guides written in The Bible.
iii) is to construct a new national community leading 60 million people to Canaan Blessed land with milk and honey.
The "blessed people" is regarded as people who well manage three rituals (e.g., purpose, duty, and mission), three minds (e.g., labor, service, and sacrifice), and three lifes (e.g., politics, economy, and religion).
(4) The Gospel and practical life, according to his worldview.
i) Home teaching and filial piety He mentioned the importance of family and showed a model of people with his own family getting rid of pernicious evil.
In order to form this kind of family, he insisted that not only he himself but also family members should declare family precepts and the rule of a family.
Also, he emphasized the responsibility of educations for children and even unborned children, and proposed a discipline depending on the age.
Especially, family education was established through faith, love, and obedience.
Moreover, filial piety is also emphasized and presented how to do it.
ii) Training Agriculture-Army(농군) through a rural community Firstly, he constructed Bong-An ideal village (봉안이상촌) so as to conduct various life reformation and foster anti-Japanese struggle movement.
Secondly, farm cultivation at Sam-Gak mountain (삼각산)
Thirdly, he constructed E-Den hyang(에덴향), trained Agriculture Army
iii) Social instructor through spirit-flesh education
Firstly, he cultivated the Canaan farm at Hwang-san (황산) to focus on the Gospel preaching and education by Canaan church and school.
The Canaan Agriculture Army school(가나안농군학교) was built because many people wanted to observe their own lives and have experiences
The contents of education were consisted of mental education and practical education.
Also, with respect to the learner, a variety of courses have been set up.
This school have contributed to personal individuals and local communities.
Secondly, The Sin-Lim Canaan farm (신림가나안 농장) was cultivated and the second Canaan Agriculture Army school(제2가나안농군학교), "Blessed people" school(복민훈련원) have been established to train social instructors.
(5) Implications to modern church and society are
i) adopting religious belief to our life
ii) emphasis on moral education
iii) Innovational leadership
iv) family and community
v) reformation of filial piety
vi) Contributed much to the development of a nation.
From these investigation, we have regarded as his worldview, which is based on Christian worldview, as truthful Christian, intelligible man of historical conscious, endless pioneer, rational practitioner, idealized man of character, cosmopolitan for human happiness.
Finally, we hope that his though is continuously succeeded.
