A rapid and indiscreet industrial developments throughout the South Korean territory have triggered excessive soil erosion and deposit. Unfortunately, soil occurrence caused by its erosion has been a main reason for flood damage which easily increases rainfall-runoff and decreases channel section of rivers. Even worse, these events generally lead to environmental problems such as functional depreciation of soil control capability and hydraulic structures. It also decreases productivity of crop productivity by changing of surrounding atmosphere.
A purpose of this study is to estimate the amount of soil erosion around a certain basin near Changchon by using soil cover degree, precise numerical soil degree, rainfall data acquired from Taesu gage station and gradient map of Changchon. After gathering all information, concentrated analysis was conducted.
First conclusion after calculating soil erosion caused by rainfall of thirty years in frequency and continuation of twenty four hours around each subbasin of Changchon, sub3, sub6 and sub7 which has higher ratio of arable land showed higher soil erosion.
Yet, sub8 which also has high ratio of arable land showed smaller soil erosion. The reason for this turned out to be sub8 has lower gradient, shorterl ength and slope; these are factors of soil erosion.
Also, according to Gupta's soil erosion grade, Changchon basin has 66.99% of slight erosion region and left over 32.99% was moderate. Therefore, Changchon basin can be concluded as a durable land against soil erosion.
