The bearing strength of composite joint depends on many parameters such as lay-up pattern and thickness of laminate, fastener type and diameter, loading pattern and environment. Accordingly, it is key issue in the practical design of the composite joints to establish the database for the effect of such parameters on the strength. In this paper, a total of specimens were tested to get the bearing strength of carbon fabric composite single lap joint. Using the test results, an empirical equation to predict the bearing strength of the composite joint was proposed considering the effects of joint configuration, fastener type and etc. The maximum deviation of the predicted bearing strength is within 9.4% from test results. From the comparison, it is concluded that the bearing strength of carbon fabric composite single lap joint can be predicted using that kind of empirical equation with limited amount of test.
