LED lighting has been identified as a light source to resolve the recent rise in global oil prices and the increasing consumption of energy. LED lighting has been recognized by the Climatic Change Convention as a growth industry in the future and a practical light source in this low-carbon age in every country. Especially, Green Growth Strategy, recently a big paradigm of current government policy, is not exceptional, but can be natural if it gets interested in the development and application of LED Airfield Lighting as policy. On the other hand, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the supporting group of a panel meeting in an aerial field, in a meeting last April, held LEDSGs to examining standards establishment regarding LED Airfield Lighting as well.
In this dissertation, first the concept of Airfield Lighting systems and the character of LED lighting were researched. They were supposed to be practical and applicable as LED Airfield Lighting called "cost-cutting" by comparing and analyzing the maintenance costs of prior halogen lamps and the applicable model of the present development condition.
Today, LED application is very limited to LED lamps However, It is expected more "cost-cutting" combined with power supply and the present road map about LED application to Airfield Lighting for the future to continue.
