This paper has suggested a pronouncing textbook which had not been developed ever before for marriage migrant females whose number is currently increasing in a situation of times in Korea, and who shall need to have a Korean language education urgently. Specially the researcher has presented a way of developing a pronouncing textbook, considering the educational situation of Vietnamese females who account for a significant portion of marriage migrant females in order that they could study Korean language by themselves.
The way of a study was to estimate the Vietnamese learner's pronunciation errors of Korean language after comparing Korean language to Vietnamese language, and to confirm those errors by testing pronunciation of Korean language of real Vietnamese marriage migrant females and to try to analyze causes whether those comes from differences among their mother tongues or not.
After that, the researcher has intended to compose a pronouncing textbook for self-study deciding pronouncing items to educate through the analysis result.
First, as the result of the contrast analysis, Vietnamese learners were expected to have a difficulty to pronounce a diphthong, affricate /ㅈ, ㅊ, ㅉ/ out of initial sounding consonants, other 3 confrontational consonants, a character when /ㅃ/ comes as an initial sound due to different syllable structure and a syllabic character [ㄹ] of Korean language. Also in Vietnamese language, since phoneme sounds as its own phonetic value, the Korean phonetic rule which pronounces different sounds from spellings was expected to be difficult to learn for Vietnamese in general.
Based on the analysis result, the researcher has extracted pronouncing items to educate which learners may feel difficult to pronounce by searching the recognition of pronunciation and its commanding state with candidates of 20 Vietnamese marriage migrant females living in Busan. Seeing the result, the researcher could confirm that those extracted items to educate were all phonetic rules inclusive a diphthong except /ㅘ/, initial sounding consonants/ㅉ, ㅃ, ㅋ, ㄲ, ㅊ, ㄷ, ㅈ/, and final consonants/ㄷ, ㄹ/.
Through the analysis result, the researcher has composed a textbook for a self-study which is suitable to the situation of marriage migrant females based on pronouncing items which learners feel difficult to pronounce. Candidates were Vietnamese in this study, but pronouncing textbooks for marriage migrants of other various nationalities should be developed soon later. Also a study should be carried out to develop a pronouncing textbook for self-study utilizing multimedia which is emerging as a good self-study education method.
