This research aims at an assessment and analysis on the correlation between the satisfactory level of the family life depending on socio-demographic characteristics and one's participatory level of community service, and provides useful information on fulfilling an adequate and creative lifestyle that leads to a happy and satisfying family life and better community service.
The subject of this research is limited to the adults that participate in community service and live within Gangbuk providence of Seoul-Nowon Gu, Dobong Gu, and Seongbuk Gu. This study has chosen 211 subjects among 250 respondents for survey analysis.
The result of this research is summarized into four-folds. First, in many of the socio-demographic aspects analyzed, only difference in income level proved to be of particular importance on the family life, while other factors such as the differences in age, family types, education, religion, and occupation level did not show any significant importance.
Second, out of the characteristics of the community service, community service route, participants' commitment level and time involvement in community service, participants' attitude, contentment and conflict level and education on community service showed meaningful impact on the satisfactory level of the family life, while reason for participating in community service, location, subject, and the specification of the community service did not show much meaningful impact.
Third, it was found that much attention needs to be given to the correlation between self development relationship, relationship between family members, spouses, children and the satisfactory level of the family life. It shows that the higher the family's understanding on the community service is, the more satisfied participant becomes. In addition, since there is a high interrelationship between four aspects(self, family members, spouses, and children) of the satisfactory level of family life, more satisfying family life style can be fulfilled through family member's active involvement and better understanding of the community service.
Finally, the satisfactory level of family life style through the community service was found as 3.92, which is regarded as a high score. It shows that our research result partially agrees with the common belief that the community service itself would improve the satisfactory level of the family life. Out of the sub-category of the satisfactory level of family life, self-contentment level had the highest score, followed by the satisfying relationship between one's children, family members, and spouses. Therefore, throughout this research, it can be assumed that one's involvement in community service and the value it presents has a positive impact on improvement of the quality of oneself and his family's life. Hence, the community service, if supported by both family and social level, it would result in the increasement of the effectiveness of the community service.
