To investigate the vegetation structure along mountain ridge and slope at Woongseok-bong 25 plots(400㎡) were set up by a random sampling method. Three groups of Quecus mongolica - Pinus densiflora community, Q. dentata community, and Q. mongolica - Q. dentata - Q. variabilis community were classified by cluster analysis. Pinus densiflora, Q. variabilis, Q. serrata, Carpinus laxiflora, and Q. mongolica were found as mostly dominant woody plant species in the Woongseok-bong area. In the future, the importance percentage of Pinus densiflora might be eventually decreased, but those of Q. variabilis, Q. serrata, Carpinus laxiflora, and Q. mongolica might be gradually increased. There were strong positive correlations between Q. variabilis and Fraxinus sieboldiana, Acer palmatum and Ilex macropoda, Cornus kousa and Platycarya strobilacea, Sorbus alnifolia and Carpinus laxiflora, and, were relatively weak negative correlations between Pinus densiflora and Carpinus laxiflora, Fraxinus sieboldiana and Carpinus laxiflora, Q. mongolica and Sorbus alnifolia, Ilex macropoda and Sorbus alnifolia. Species diversity index(H') of investigated groups was ranged from 0.09832 to 1.1102.
There were 738 kinds, 9 forma, 63 varieties 664 species, 382 genera and 107 families of total plants in the investigated this area. The endemic woody plants of Korea were 14 species. The species of rare and endangered plants was 4 species such as Corylopsis coreana, Juglans sinensis, Abies koreana and Rhododendron tschonoskii.
