This study was carried out to understand a planting criteria and trend of scenery trees in 10 county office(Geochang, Goseong, Namhae, Sancheong, Uiryeong, Changnyeong, Hadong, Haman, Hamyang, Hapcheon)
of Gyeongsangnam-Do. All scenery trees in the study area were classified into morphological, usable, natural characteristics and original country.
10 county office possess 9,008 trees with 98 species as scenery trees. Mean tree species per each county office were 24.1 species and 908.8 trees. Hadong county possesses the highest planting trees involved 37 species with 248 trees among province, while Changnyeonggun was of the lowest involved 35 species with 184 trees. Rhododendron indicum was planted 790 trees among 9,008 trees. There was 50% in evergreen and 50% in deciduous trees among total planting species. Proportion of usable characteristics was 69% in ornamental, 17% in flowering and in 14% fruit trees. Originality of tree was 61% in native and 39% in exotic trees with 50% from China, 34% from Japan, 2% from Europe, 2% from Himalaya and 2% from America.
The Geochang county possess 823 trees with 21 species as scenery trees. The Goseong county possess 376 trees with 27 species as scenery trees. The Namhae county possess 1538 trees with 25 species as scenery trees. The Sancheong county possess 3,002 trees with 34 species as scenery trees. The Uiryeong county possess 355 trees with 11 species as scenery trees. The Changnyeong, county possess 191 trees with 35 species as scenery trees. The Hadong, county possess 248 trees with 37 species as scenery trees. The Haman county possess 235 trees with 17 species as scenery trees. The Hapcheon county possess 209 trees with 20 species as scenery trees. Pinus densiflora, Taxus cuspidata, P. densiflora for. multicaulis, Zelkova serrata and Rhododendron indicum were preferred as scenery trees in ten country offices. The scenery trees have been managed carefully.
