The adolescence which is started with physical changes can be said as being the most important state in which human should achieve mental-physiological developmental work in growth and as being the more dynamic than any other works.
This research analyzed the sex education in school for teenagers who are mature physically but immature mentally/physiologically, and found out the way to improve the sex education which students ask for based on the level of middle school students' knowledge, attitude, action about sex matters.
To attain this end, firstly, I found out the concept, characteristic and the need for sex education about the sex problems of teenagers. Secondly, I examined precedent studies on knowledge, attitude and action about sex matters of teenagers, and analyzed the present condition of sex education for teenagers comparing with foreign countries'. Thirdly, I grasped the exact state of sex education for middle school students based on theoretical studies and to find out the requirement for sex education following this, I distributed 350 questionnaire for middle school students in Uijeongbu, Kyeongkido and then analyzed the data.
The domains of questinnaire were divided as knowledge on sex matters, attitude for sex matters, analysis on sex actions and present condition of sex education, and requirement for sex education following this.
To summarize the findings of this research is as follows;
Firstly, examining the present condition of sex education for middle school students in Kyeongkido, knowledge on sex matters were average and then boy students were analyzed as having more knowledge on sex matters then girls.
Secondly, attitude toward sex matters did not affect teenagers' requirement for sex education.
Thirdly, It turned out that girl students were more active than boys about the sexual actions.
Fourth, about the requirement for sex education, they said that they needed the sex education as establishing sex morale/sex ethics, and wanted to know the sex psychology or how to resist an sexual impulse the most. Also they wished professional instructors in their 20's of the same sex as sex education teachers.
To put together theses findings, It shows the necessity to foster active educational environment in which students can learn the right information about knowledge and actions on sex matters, through the result that the less they have knowledge on sex matters and the more they show actions on sex matters, the more they require sex education. Also, through the empirical education not just the simple delivery of knowledge on sex matters by public education system, Sex education has to be continuous which can include from preliminary preventive discipline to follow-up preventive discipline.
Building sex education empirical center taking charge of professional sex education and improving/operating sex education program can make for teenagers refrain from unjust sexual actions and teach students right sex education. For this, expanding the base for changing the idea toward sex education throughout our society is essential, and administration of central and local governments are needed altogether.
