This study investigate the growth of the child, who is suffering from tic symptoms, in the view of Winnicott. The possibile impingement was explored and the regression was admitted and lead the child to reexperience the process of growth during the counseling. Through the counseling process, the mother as a main fosterer provided 'a good enough mothe'r and 'a holding environment' to the child. Finally, the study on decrease of tic symptoms according to the Change in child-rearing environment was suggested.
This thesis is carried out as below:
Firstly, the fostering process of the client, who has been rearing child with tic symptoms, was investigated and the period of impingement was explored.
Secondly, the emotion of mother as a fosterer was investigated and gave the mother opportunities to explore her caring, and tried to decrease the level of guilty feeling and anxiety
Thirdly, the theories used during the counseling process was explained and 'a holding environment' and 'a good object' provided to the mother was investigated and the mother was supported in order to be provided as a good object.
Fourth, the child was allowed to regress to the period when the child was impinged, and the mother was encouraged to provide facilitating environment.
In conclusion, it was found that both the mother and the child experienced positive changes through the counseling process. The level of inflexibility of the mother-child relationship was declined, and tic symptoms were also decreased. These changes make the psychological burden of the mother remarkably declined, and lead the mother to explore herself. 'The good object', which was discovered during the exploration ,made the stable emotion more solid, and help the mother to be provide ad 'a good object' again.
