In the case of fatigue test of welds, many studies have been done on tensile-tensile load controlled tests which conduct experiments under equal direction for the test specimen and the applied load. However, existing fatigue testing equipments have limits to reproduce the vacuum load for the vacuum chamber which receives repetitive atmospheric pressure and vacuum load and fillet welds in the tensile-compressive load. Thus, fatigue test machine for fillet welds that can give tensile-compressive load periodically were designed and produced.
This study resulted the following conclusions from the experiment of the tensile-compression fatigue test machine that designed and produced to appropriate for fillet welds. In accordance with KS standards about fatigue tests on welding part, fatigue test specimen and fatigue test machine for T-Fillet welding part which depicts the filet welds of vacuum chamber were designed and produced autonomously. Then, fatigue tests were conducted.
The experiment result and the fact that the concentration of stresses in the same area were found from FEM analysis performed on T-Fillet weld fatigue test specimen based on the fatigue test result. It showed that obtained stress value at this point has approximately 4.5% of the error rate with the value set on the experiment by Strain Gauge.
