The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences and correlations of stress factors and stress coping methods according to high school students' gender, grade and school type.
The research proposal is as follows :
First, are there any differences in the stress factors according to high school students' gender, grade and school type?
Second, are there any differences stress coping methods according to high school students' gender, grade and school type?
Third, are there any correlations between stress factors and stress coping methods of high school students?
The subject is composed of 468 who are high school student sdivided by two groups, S academic high school's students and S technical high school's student, and male and female, and first grade and second grade.
The questionnaire copies used were Stress Factors Test (Jang Young-Sook, 2001). Stress Coping Methods (Lee Sun-Joo, 1995 : Cha Tae-Gyeng, 1998 : Kim Heron-Young, 2003).
The question item at the scales was analyzed for their reliability and the collected data was a process for mean(M), standard deviatation (SD), t-test, and correlation analysis.
The result of the study is as follows :
First, there was little stress factor between high school students' grade, but not their type and gender.
Second, there was not significant difference in grade and gender, but in type in their stress coping method.
Third, there was significant correlation between their stress factor and stress coping method.
On the base of the result, I would like to suggest some research proposal as follows :
There is a little difficulty to generalize the result, because the subject was limited as only the high school students in S city. More various sample are required. Also, the veracity and objectivity of the subjects' reaction are short, because the questionary copy is only used for data collection.
The work for the standardization about the questionary copy for stress factor is required, and the comprehensive study for the various variables and their interactions must be done.
The effective help for students must be given to be relived of stress, not by using a short term and passive method, but by using psychology test for finding their psychological difficulties. In addition, the various programs for controling their stress are required, and the supply culture space and play culture program must be provided for them to rid of various stress.
