This research is to figure out the influence of hand holding and Nea-Guan acupressure to anxiety and pain that local anesthesia patients feel in out patient operation room.
Non-equivalent control group non-synchronized design was adopted and the data had been collected from Jul. 1st thru Oct. 31st 2013.
Total 78 local anesthesia patients of out patient operation room in the Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital located in Anyang city were allotted by control group, experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 26 each.
Experimental groups were facilitated with nursing interventions of hand holding and Nea-Guan acupressure for intraoperative 10 minutes with the self selected music from operation room entrance through exit. The self selected music was provided to the control group also.
The psychologic anxiety was measured by STAI and VAS, and the physiological anxiety by the blood pressure and pulse, and the pain by VAS in order to identify the effect of hand holding and Nea-Guan Acupressure.
The data collected were analyzed by SPSS Win 20.0 program and Homogeneity verification was analyzed by χ² test, t-test, ANOVA and Hypothesis Testing was done by ANOVA and Tukey verification was performed for Post-verification. Reliability of measurement tool was produced by Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
The results of this research showed below for each hypothesis.
1) Hypothesis 1: Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should show the significant difference of psychologic anxiety.
1-1. The hypothesis 1-1 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should show the significant difference of psychologic anxiety is supported by STAI.
1-2. The hypothesis 1-2 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should show the significant difference of the anxiety VAS is proved.
2) Hypothesis 2 : Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should make significant difference in physiological anxiety.
2-1. The hypothesis 2-1 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should make the significant difference in systolic blood pressure is verified.
2-2. The hypothesis 2-2 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should make the significant difference in diastolic blood pressure is confirmed.
2-3. The hypothesis 2-3 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should make the significant difference in pulse is supported.
3) Hypothesis 3 : The Hypothesis 3 that Music+Hand Holding group, Music+Nea-Guan Acupressure group, Music only group should make the significant difference in pain is proved.
Hand holding and Nea-Guan acupressure in this research was validated to relieve the psychologic anxiety, the physiological anxiety and the pain of the local anesthesia patients in operation and can be adopted as an efficacious nursing interventions.
