The study attempts to examine the case of three countries' sports ODA(Official Development Assistance) and perspective of sports diplomacy. In this paper, Sports ODA budget, system and programs will be investigated in advanced nations. In addition, this seeks the way to strengthen the sports ODA program in South Korea. To do so, the study firstly identifies the three states'(The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia) international sports contribution regarding programs, system and budget of Sports ODA for the development and peace.
On the basis of these, this paper attempts to evaluate and compare ODA programs of the advanced nations through sports. Meanwhile, the UK, Australia and Canada implement various programs nowadays and budget also has different levels. On the system of sports ODA of advanced countries, Australia and Canada have partnership with governmental organization such as National Olympic Committee(NOC) and other organizations.
However, the UK is implementing governmental organization with NGOs such as UNICEF British Branch. This derives enhancement of International sports power and great relations with developing countries through sports. This International Sports contribution will be influenced for peace and development directly and indirectly. It will strengthen the sport diplomatic power in international sport and International contribution field.
Therefore, it is necessary to expand the extent of ODA using sports accordingly. In addition, the priority should be given to universal humanitarian principles, not to immediate national interests, when initiating such programs. With active contribution toward International Sports Development Cooperation, Korea in the global sports community will be strengthened gradually.
