OLED is a self-emitting diode with fast response time, wide viewing angle, wide color gamut and low power consumption. These advantages being applied to display. OLED sealing techniques are being studied, because organic layers inside OLED are degradation reliability resulting from interaction with oxygen and moisture. There are two approaches to seal the OLED are used include methods organic materials and inorganic materials. If used organic material to sealing, it advantage is flexible, but easy response to oxygen and moisture than inorganic materials.
In this study, applied laser sealing method to used the inorganic material glass frit. V2O5-BaO-TeO2 based glass the base composition was designed, V2O5 was applied for network former glass frit with a low softening point and higher absorption in IR region. BaO and TeO2 to used for increased fluidity at lower temperature.
However, the major problem is residual stress due to different thermal expansion coefficient between glass frit and OLED substrate. In order to prevent the formation of residual stress used filler with negative thermal expansion coefficient and glass frit with low softening point. The problem was solved after laser sealing. Li2O used as the additive for the high fluidity, but the occurs bubbles on the interface between the sealing material and the substrate, also confirmed that the bonding strength decreases. Fe2O3, SnO was added for increase the IR absorption, and WO3 was added for the high thermal stability. It was confirmed high bond strength and superior waterproof from moisture.
