Nowadays, the business goals 'Domestic Harbor Logistics Industry' pursues are to solidify its place for a Mega Herb Port as a central nation of the northeast Asia in the marine industry and make an effort to secure business key points for fast-growing cargo logistics field. In this aspect, by establishing the North Pole Route recently, South Korea already has what it takes to be the hub port geo-politically in the field of Northeast Asian distribution.
Additionally, considering the third party logistics, it is true that South Korea has the absolute advantage compared with other surrounding nations through the reduction of cost and time.
In harbor logistics industry, in case of ship's spare parts logistics, when the domestic or foreign nationality ship come into port, a variety of materials for ship should be provided and the appropriate management and supply processes should be followed. Specifically, among ship's spare parts which can be divided into over 3,000 parts, engines and assembly line for ship are the equipment that should be provided with urgency since the number of these equipments are quite many the systemized management is needed.
This study aims at searching for the ways to increase effective management for ship's spare logistics center on the basis of the finding the most suitable solutions of saving costs and warehouse space, investigating factors affecting the utility and examining the method of the maximum value for management.
In order to studying these goals, this paper investigated one company of ship's spare logistics center located in Yangsan, Kyeongnam province, Korea on the basis of influencing variables on the warehousing process. The data were collected by using multiple comparison method through ABC analysis & stocktaking analysis.
The content of this paper is as follows. The first chapter points out the purpose of the study and the method and content of the study. The second chapter searches the management status of ship's spare logistics center, the definition of ship s spare parts and current problem situation. Exploring the third chapter, it explains efficient management ways of snip's spare logistic center on the basis of own collaboration portal logistics systems. The fourth chapter presents the analytical data and results of actual studying case on the basis of using two kinds of comparison method. The last chapter outlines the study's outcome and future needed trend.
From the results, we should strive to get high added value through not a trite way that just depend on mere physical act, but improved and specialized management method in the process of reception the parts, storing, classifying, picking, reworking and supplying of snip's spare parts logistics.
