The purpose of the study was to verify the relationship between transformational leadership, group cohesiveness, and recognizable athletic performance perceived by Handball players. To fulfill these purposes, handball players from middle school, high school and university, and business-sponsored sport team who have been registered on the Korean Olympic Committee in 2016 were selected as population. 332 participants were sampled using cluster sampling method. 291 were put to use for analysis, after 41 false for faithless ones were excluded. IBM SPSS Statistics 21 program was used for the analysis of data. This study was conducted by frequency analysis for analysis demographic characteristic of subjects. And this study was also conducted by the factor analytic investigation and reliability analysis to look into the internal consistency and construct validity. To verify the difference in factors based on demographic characteristic was performed by descriptive statistics analysis, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. Lastly, this study was utilized by correlation analysis and standard multiple regression analysis to analyze the relationship between factors.
The conclusion came out of data will be as follows.
First, there was a significant difference in transformational leadership according to the demographic characteristic of players. Also based on analysis, group cohesiveness and recognizable athletes performance had partially significant relationship. Charisma, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation of handball coach were highly perceived by male players, middle and high school student players, and players under 10 years of career length. Also charisma leadership was perceived by winners of regional competition and players who had no prize than winners of international competition. Individualized consideration leadership was perceived by winners of regional competition. Intellectual stimulation leadership was perceived by players who had no prize. In addition, individual-society group cohesiveness which is subfactor of group cohesiveness was perceived by student players, winners of regional competition, and players under 5 years of career length. Group-society cohesion is perceived by players under 5 years of career length, and group-task cohesion is perceived by players who had no prize. Female players were aware of recognizable athletes performance than male players.
Second, group cohesiveness was influenced by transformational leadership perceived by handball players. Charisma leadership was influenced by group-society, group-task, and individual-society cohesion. Intellectual stimulation leadership had relationship on individual-task, group-task, and individual-society cohesion.
Third, transformational leadership perceived by handball players had a significant impact on recognizable athletes performance. To be concrete, charisma and individualized consideration leadership had an influence on recognizable athletes performance.
Forth, group cohesiveness of handball players had an impact on recognizable athletes performance, To put it concretely, group-society, group-task, and individual-society cohesion had an effect on recognizable athletes performance.
