Since the Davos Forum in 2016, the fourth industrial revolution, which has been presented as a global issue, has been applied in many fields through the fusion of technology and industry. However, the environment and competitiveness of each industry are different, so it is not possible to achieve innovation through the simple application of foreign cases, and it is necessary to identify the current situation of each industry.
The purpose of this study is to examine the issues to be considered in developing and constructing smart factories and the development plan as a way to enhance competitiveness in order to improve production paradigm and productivity in the manufacturing industry. Based on this, we tried to propose innovative changes and competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises according to the fourth industrial revolution. The current status of companies in the 4th Industrial Revolution and the level of readiness of individual firms are examined through the results of previous researches, and future countermeasures are predicted.
Based on this research, it is expected that the continuous research for the advancement of smart factories should be carried out in the world economic environment which is fiercely developed in the fourth industrial revolution era.
