Plastics, which are consumed most in the world, threaten ecosystem as environmental pollutants due to the increase of used quantity and the lack of waste disposal. Although bioplastics are developed as the alternative materials for plastics, they are not yet recognized because their commercialization is problematic. So, the purpose of this study is to examine the actual status of plastic industry, and then analyze the actual conditions and policies of waste plastic recycling. According to the results of this study, domestic and foreign plastic industry shows the trend of growth and so it is inevitable to increase the production and consumption of plastics. Thus, it is necessary in our country to prepare consumption policy to minimize the occurrence of waste plastics as well as circulation expansion measures through recycling, so that it is implied to reduce waste plastics through the virtuous circulation of activation measures for recycling waste plastics. Because plastics with low value can lead to their overuse and improper management, it is necessary to increase the cost of raw materials as the measure for controling their production and consumption carefully. In case of consumption goods with high value, it is necessary to consider environmental pollution and human body danger, whose costs can not be calculated, as well as the cost, which is spent in disposing of waste plastics.
