The purpose of this study is to solve problems of emotional labor and quality of life felt in sports instructor's system and fields, and to present ways to improve the working environment and quality of life of sports instructors. In order to achieve the goal as such, seven sports instructors who have a profession as a sports instructor as of 2019, and have a qualification for second class regular physical education teacher with at least five years' experience in the field of physical education were selected by applying purposeful sampling and inductive categorization analysis was conducted. As a result, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the difficulties of sports instructors included poor pay systems in which the salary is even below the minimum living cost of two persons, difficulties in stably maintaining a livelihood due to the contract period shorter than one year, not recognized as a career, continuous service at salaries less than the minimum living cost of two persons, and no occupational stabilization due to the contract renewed every year. Second, as for the expertise of physical education, the instructors coming under the name of sports instructor lack the responsibility and expertise so that there is a gap between them and the field where leading physical education curriculum classes are implemented. Third, as for actual situation of emotional labor, it could be seen that sports instructors were emotional workers due to the elements resulting from the insecure contract system and the insecure guarantee of status for teacher's expertise. Fourth, as for welfare benefits, although the role of full-time teachers and that of sports instructors with insecure status are similar, the welfare benefits of sports instructors employed with contracts for less than one year are poor leading to the vicious circle in which emotional labor is transfused into students. Therefore, in order to improve the poor job environment and low salary system of sports instructors, and guarantee teachers' expertise, the revision of the law to change the position of sports instructors into the position under contracts with unlimited periods, the will of the Ministry of Education and support by budgets are necessary. At present when leading physical education curriculum classes are implemented, the name sports instructor is inadequate for expertise of sport instructors. Therefore, the right to take full charge of class should be given and the name should be changed recognizing the fact that they implement leading classes. To improve the quality of classes, the training undergone once per year should be increased into quarterly training and should include invited experts' training on practice and instructional methods.
