The importance of this study is to provide useful information to participants of preliminary aerobics exercise and participants of sports aerobics by identifying the relationship between physical satisfaction and leisure satisfaction according to the degree of participation of middle-aged women in aerobic such as participation period, participation frequency and participation time.
Two hundred fifty middle-aged women who participate in Jeollabuk-do sports aerobics club in 2019 were selected as a population group of this study, and the convenient sampling method (Convenience-Sampling) that allows researchers to extract samples at random in convenient places when they are convenient was used.
Among the components of the questionnaire used in this study, the questionnaire developed by Gong Young-hee (2012) and Park Jong-hee (2003) was used as a questionnaire of physical satisfaction and leisure satisfaction scale(LSS) which developed by Beard and Ragheb(1980) and adapted by Lee Jong-gil(1992) was supplemented and used as a questionnaire of leisure satisfaction. Out of the total 250 questionnaires collected, 28 unfavorable data and unfaithful responses were excluded from the analysis.
Window SPSS PC+ V 21.0 program was used to analyze data to verify the hypothesis according to the purpose of the study and t-test, one-way analysis of variance(one-way ANOVA), and Scheffe were used to perform a posteriori test and multiple regression analysis.
The results of this study are as follows.
First, according to the demographical characteristics, there was a difference between physical satisfaction and leisure life satisfaction.
Second, analyzing the physical satisfaction of middle-aged women who take an aerobics, the physical satisfaction was significantly affected by participation level, which was scored as participation period and frequency.
Third, the leisure life satisfaction was positively regulated by subfactors of participation in an aerobic class, such as frequency, period, and time of taking the class.
As a result, it was revealed that age, one of the demographical characteristics, is a significantly effective factor to physical satisfaction of middle-aged women. Also, both physical satisfaction and leisure life satisfaction showed positive trends with subfactors of aerobic class participation. Combining all of those results, there was a strong correlation between participation degree in an aerobic lesson and physical or leisure life satisfaction of middle-aged women.
This study revealed the positive effects of taking aerobics of middle-aged women in a point of quality of life. Here, we suggest to encourage the participation of aerobics to a broad range of age groups, and also to develop intriguing and systematic programs in the class.
