In this study, it intended to identify the differences in the personality types through a survey of interpersonal caring behavior and job satisfaction by Enneagram personal types of care workers who have an interpersonal relationship with elderly patients everyday at the site, and finally, to look into the relationship among Enneagram personality types, interpersonal caring behavior, and job satisfaction.
The survey was carried out with the subjects who participated in this study of 300 care workers currently in-service in Seoul and the metropolitan area, and the questionnaire was made with 81 items of Enneagram personality types, 50 items of interpersonal caring behavior, and 16 items of job satisfaction of which were measured using the Likert 5-point scale. For the data analysis method, SPSS 20.0 program was used to look into the degree of demographic characteristics, Enneagram personality types, and job satisfaction by descriptive statistics. For the differences in demographic characteristics, interpersonal caring behaviors by personality types, and job satisfaction, it was analyzed through T-test and ANOVA, and for the correlation between interpersonal caring behaviors and job satisfaction, it was analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient.
The results of this study are as follows:
1. For the demographic characteristics of the care workers, the most of the age group was in their 40s ~ 50s, and the most of their average work experience was in the period for 6 ~ 15 years.
2. For the Enneagram personality types of the care workers, it was shown in the order of gut type, head type, and heart type in the power center domain, and for the nine types of personality, it was found that the most of them were the mediator of gut center.
3. Since interpersonal caring behaviors and job satisfaction of the heart type artist in the No.4 type out of the personality types were both shown below the average, it needs a policy to enhance comforting and active listening to the heart type.
4. It was found that the correlation between interpersonal caring behavior and job satisfaction was significant.
In this study, it was found that interpersonal caring behaviors were different by care workers' Enneagram personality types, and that the higher the interpersonal caring behaviors showed, the higher the job satisfaction became as well. Based on this result, it is believed that high-quality programs to promote interpersonal caring behaviors according to care workers' characteristics suitable for the Enneagram personality types should be studied, and that the preparations will have to be made much faster, since such educational programs are able to increase job satisfaction in the end.
